How to use our online shop

You can access products in our online catalogue in a variety of ways, and a number of different mechanisms can be used to put them into the shopping basket. You can visit the shopping basket page at any time to change quantities or to remove items. When you have finished shopping you can proceed to the checkout to actually place your order.

System Requirements or "Why can't I put things in my basket?"

Our system uses Javascript to create a 'cookie' on your computer. This is used to store a 'Shopping Basket ID' so that our system can maintain a list of items that you have put into the basket as you move around our site. It is possible to disable your browser's ability to process Javascript and to store cookies. If either of these features are disabled you will not be able to add items to your shopping basket.

UK Orders

Our system is able to calculate the cost of UK shipping and does so on the shopping basket page. You can then use our secure payment pages to enter your card details. Your order will usually be despatched within 2 working days and your card will be charged on the day of despatch. If there are any problems we will contact you by email. Please note that UK orders have a minimum goods requirement of 12 UKP.

Overseas Orders

Our system is not currently able to deal with the complexity of calculating overseas shipping however our system provides the facility to request a quote. When you do this, your basket will be 'locked' so that you can no longer add or remove products. Upon receipt of the request, we will calculate and notify you by email of the shipping cost. You can then return to our site to enter your card details. We will then charge your card and despatch the order. Please note that overseas orders have a minimum goods value of 12 UKP.

Despatch Methods

UK orders under 40UKP in value are normally sent by Royal Mail (or courier at our discretion). Orders over 40UKP are normally sent on a 2 working day courier service. We are able to make special arrangements e.g. arranging for you to collect, or sending urgent orders by same day or next day courier. To arrange this you should contact our sales office on 01932 228228. Please note that you can still use our online system to compile the order and quote the shopping basket ID (found on the shopping basket page) when you phone. Please do not call to collect unless you have telephoned to make arrangements.

Overseas orders are normally sent by courier.

Ways to pay

Our online shop has facilities to take card details in a secure environment. We are also able to accept cheques and cash. Account facilities are available but are subject to status and references. We can also accept Local Authority and Independent School Purchase Orders. Please note that you can still use our online shop to compile your order when using any of these payment methods.

Other ways to buy from EMA

In addition to taking orders via our online system, we are able to take orders by post, fax, telephone and various other methods. Please see the inside cover of our printed catalogue for details or phone our sales office on 01932 228228.
